General Description
The Morris 44 was designed as a fully modern high-performance cruiser wrapped within traditional aesthetics. She is intended as a shorthanded cruiser, so the sail plan emphasizes high efficiency rather than area, and the stable hull form and low VCG ensure modest feeling angles. Belowdecks, the objective was to provide two separate, spacious cabins.  The keel is a modern bulbed design which combines a very low center of gravity with the induced drag diminishment obtainable with a flattened bulb. The deck design serves pure liveaboard function. The cockpit is designed for maximum crew safety and comfort, with a seating area created wide enough for seated persons to brace against the opposing seat front, helmsman's seat abreast the wheel for extra comfort and plenty of room to handle lines and winches. The sail plan features a high aspect ratio sloop rig with convertible cutterstay for heavy weather sailing. The superior quality of Morris Yachts construction system and techniques is evident throughout PRESTO and is sure to exceed the expectations of the most experienced and demanding yachtsman.
